The University of Lagos Alumni Association came into existence in 1969, four (4) years after the first 41 graduates were turned out of the University that was established in 1962. The idea of the Alumni Association was conceived when it was considered necessary to create an organization that would embrace different generations of the University. The body was expected to play a dominant role in the life of the University by reflecting the views of its graduates.
Founded in 1962, the University of Lagos has, for over 5 decades, provided qualitative and research-oriented education to Nigerians and all those who have entered its domain in search of knowledge. The University has built a legacy of excellence and has been instrumental in the production of top range graduates and academia who have had tremendous impact, directly or indirectly, on growth and development in Nigeria.
New Year Speech by The Alumni President
As we approach the dawn of a New Year it gives me great pleasure to congratulate you for witnessing the end of the Year 2022. The past 3 years have tested the faith of the best of men with the devastation unleashed by the Covid 19 pandemic as well as other numerous natural and man-made disasters. We must therefore be grateful for the grace to be alive even as we commiserate with those who have lost loved ones and friends. May the souls of the departed find eternal rest with their Maker.
